This editorial design project focuses on redesigning the book covers for To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before series to create a fresh, cohesive, and story-driven visual system. The goal was to appeal to a young adult audience while clearly representing the central theme of private letters being unintentionally shared. Through research, including reviewing existing covers and watching the film adaptations, the concept of handwritten letters and personal notes emerged as the strongest direction. This idea guided the designs, emphasizing intimacy, vulnerability, and relatability. Visually, the covers use script-style typography, paper-inspired backgrounds, soft pastel color palettes, and simplified character silhouettes to keep the focus on emotion and storytelling. A consistent grid, centered layouts, and repeating elements like hearts and handwritten text unify the series while allowing each cover to remain distinct. Early design challenges, such as overly busy compositions, were resolved by simplifying background elements and refining silhouettes, resulting in cleaner, more readable designs. The final outcome is a cohesive and visually engaging system that effectively captures the tone of the series and communicates its themes to a teen and young adult audience.
